Theater Mu announces the 2021-22 season

Calling all theater lovers: Theater Mu, the Twin Cities’ premier Asian-American theater company, has just announced its 2021-22 season.

With three new productions and a Playfest, this season’s productions will continue the theater’s mission of producing shows that are at the heart of the American-Asian experience.

The season starts with You will hear me: stories from beyond, a four-part audio series that will be released weekly in October. The series is produced in collaboration with Theater 45 ° and is available online throughout October, until November 3.

Next, the Twentypho Hour Playfest will take place on November 19 and 20, with thirty artists from across the country coming together to write, rehearse and perform six different pieces, all within 24 hours. Viewers can tune in on November 19 to see the early production work and return a day later when each piece is ready to play.

In 2022, the Mu Theater will perform the play by Anna Ouyang Moench Man of god at the Mixed Blood Theater in Cedar Riverside. The play begins on February 18 and will run until March 22.

The season ends with Cambodian rock band at the Jungle Theater from June 11 to July 31, a story that considers the implications of revisiting your own story, as well as the conflicts and complications that come with it. According to Theater Mu, the project is “partly a historical play” and “partly a rock concert”.
