MILWAUKEE – Famous stuntman and performer Steve-O is known for his insane stunts on the hit show and movie series Jackass. He snorted wasabi, locked himself in a full jar and was tossed into the air, and even walked a tightrope over hungry alligators.
While he’s still doing all that, the 47-year-old is also branching out into comedy.
He has a stand-up multimedia performance called “The Bucket List” that shows off his most recent stunts, which are things that even the infamous Jackass series wouldn’t air.
“I mean we did some obviously illegal things,” said Steve-O, who was born Stephen Glover.
Before his performance, I sat down with the guy I grew up watching his body torture, to recap parts of his career and learn what his worst injuries were, his most disgusting stunts and the crazy ideas he always wants to accomplish.
JJ: How many bones have you broken?
Steve O: If you count the teeth, well into the 20s.
JJ: What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?
Steve O: I found this question frustrating until I had a definitive answer after having third degree burns on 15% of my body.
JJ: What about the most ridiculous stunt you’ve ever done?
Steve O: I had a medical professional put a four inch needle through my spine and injected this drug into my spinal cavity to paralyze me while I was in a full sprint.
JJ: What is a stunt that you regret?
Steve O: My regret is that I didn’t do more. There were certain stunts that I didn’t commit to and missed out on.
JJ: What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve ever done?
Steve O: Maybe this supreme poo cocktail.
JJ: What do you really want to do?
Steve O: I recently bought a smart car with the intention of smashing it into a wall to make sure the airbags were working.
JJ: A celebrity you would like to do a stunt with?
Steve O: There was an idea for Post Malone to tattoo a big penis on my forehead, and I’m still interested.
JJ: What scares Steve-O?
Steve O: Being famous and broke.
JJ: What do you want us to remember?
Steve O: You know it’s – I think my answer would have been I don’t care, but I just want to be remembered.
JJ: So why are you doing everything you’re doing?
Steve O: It was my way of coping with mortality. I wanted to leave behind a video that would outlive me. It would help to remember me.
Steve-O will be featured in another Jackass movie titled ‘Jackass Forever’. It will be released in theaters on February 4.
As for which is more gruesome and insane, the Jackass movie or his stand-up special, it’s up to you.
“The manager of Jackass himself said I had it a mile away,” Steve-O said.
