Here’s a list of the area’s live and online music events for the weekend and week from Friday September 17 through Thursday September 23.

As fall officially begins in the next seven days, the final weekend of concerts and festivals of the summer season arrives in central PA.

The inaugural season finale of the “Rockin ‘the yard” The concert series takes place on Friday evenings in the upper parking lot of the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona. Headlining will be the return of popular area country artists, Pistol Peg & the Beer Kegs, with the opening of the rock and roll Cambria County Ghostown Revelry. Music starts at 6 p.m.

Two festival events offer tastes of Europe this weekend. The Johnstown Slavic Festival returns to celebrate Eastern European tradition Friday and Saturday at the Heritage Discovery Center near Cambria City. Slavic food, drink, art, presentations and live music fill the two days; see the list below for music programming.

The 31st annual Sunday Italian Food and Heritage Festival is also back this weekend at Delgrosso Amusement Park in Tipton. The festival begins at 11 a.m., with Italian music provided by Austin Georgio, upstate New York, on the main stage at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and Faiella’s Father & Son duo take a stroll and occurs throughout the afternoon. A contestant during NBC Television Season 14 “The voice,” Austin will be accompanied on guitar by George Byich, guitarist for the Johnstown-based blues band Black Cat Moan.

“Life is short. Eat the bacon. If this popular internet meme is your philosophy, the 5th “Autumn at Baconfest” at the Johnstown Geistown Fire Station may be right down your alley. Bacon-based and improved foods will be in the spotlight Friday and Saturday, along with contests, children’s activities, a car show and live music. Profits come to the aid of firefighters. See the list below for the musical program of the event.

A gang battle will be part of this weekend “Paws in the park” fundraiser for the Central PA Humane Society at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg. The battle begins at 2 p.m. and will feature performances from Bone Jacked, Rodeo Radio, Tom Nevers Field, Ages, K4 Kountry and Stephanie & the Wild Hearts. Over the weekend there will also be performances by the K9s Disc-Connected Frisbee Dogs, as well as a car show, children’s activities, food and refreshments, vendors, a corn maze. and more. The donation at the door is $ 10 for adults and $ 5 for children.

This weekend will also take place the New Germany Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday and Sunday in New Germany (the program of music shows is not available), the Bonanza BBQ on Friday and Saturdays at the Huntingdon County Fairgrounds and the last two days of the annual Cookport. Fair near Cookport. The annual Harmony Grange fair near Westover begins Monday, with shows every night.
