WILLISTON, Fla. (WCJB) – Comedian AJ Wilkerson and other comedians have gathered for a free comedy show in Williston. Admission was payable by donating a toy to give to families in need.

“It was done on a very short timeframe on a tight budget and we’re going to have around 100 people here tonight and we’re going to help 15 families have a great Christmas,” Wilkerson said.

Navy veteran Jai Kai Watson said she and other veterans have been collecting toys all year round so that no child goes without a gift this holiday season.

“Being able to bring the toys for Christmas is just a participation for us because a lot of us don’t have our grandchildren here and we are all retired. It does us good to do something for the children.

Wilkerson himself is from Levy County and he said it was one way to help families going through difficult times. Seeing people laughing and children smiling after receiving a gift.

“It’s amazing how much support and everything everyone has done to make it happen, it’s amazing. This is the amazing community of people I come from.

Hundreds of toys were donated by a local doctor as well as everyone who attended the show. The toys will be given to families in need in Levy County and surrounding areas.
