Disney is always finding ways to reinvigorate its theme parks. At Walt Disney World Resort, we always see the entire property reinventing itself.
Whether it’s a resort undergoing renovations or a park as a whole, like the massive EPCOT overhaul now underway, Disney World is always focused on providing its visitors with the best possible experience. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we recently saw Pandora – World of Avatar join the theme park, but since then not much has happened at the park in terms of updates.
In DinoLand USA, one of the many lands of Animal Kingdom, many wondered what would be the fate of Primeval Whirl, the astroid roller coaster. We then learned that the attraction was definitely closed, and now we can see that the demolition is underway. We recently reported that the teardown has started, but now we can see that the ruble is quite large.
As you can see below, photographer Disparkphoto (@disparkphoto) was in the park and captured the demolition.
As seen below, the majority of the track was quickly demolished, as Disney is moving fairly quickly through the demolition.
At this time, we don’t know what will replace Primeval Whirl, if any. Disney has not announced what it will do with the space. We know DinoLand USA is a popular spot in the park with TricerTop Spin located next door, as well as DINOSAUR a short walk away. You’ll also get to enjoy The Boneyard, an interactive area, as well as carnival-style games and multiple food offerings and photo spots. Suppose another attraction was to replace Primeval Whirl. In this case, my personal speculation is that it would fit into the pitch, as opposed to the pitch receiving a total overhaul, as some fans have speculated.
Disney’s official description for the attraction reads:
Sweep through a series of sudden dips and turns as your time machine spins on its own path. Whiz by the cartoon dinosaurs hastily preparing for their impending extinction and spot a wacky meteor shower.
Slide through a fossilized puzzle of dinosaur bones, before leaving the past behind, just in time!
What would you like to see take over Primeval Whirl?
