A day before Munawar Faruqui performed his comedy special ‘Dongri to Nowhere’ in the nation’s capital, Delhi police refused permission for the show.
According to reports, the decision was taken by the Delhi Police Licensing Unit after the Central District Police pointed out that his show could affect community harmony in the area.
Although Faruqui was supposed to perform at Delhi Civic Center’s Kedarnath Stadium on Sunday August 28, his show will now be canceled in the absence of the required permission.

Earlier, Faruqui’s comedy special was canceled in Bangalore following a complaint from a Hindu group named Jai Shri Ram Sena (JSRS).
Their memorandum read: “We bring to your attention that this ‘Dongri to Nowhere’ talk show is planned propaganda to poke fun at Hindu gods and goddesses, as evidenced by Munawar Faruqui’s previous programs. This is a serious matter of hate speech and hurting the religious feelings of Hindus.
“Mr. Faruqui, while having no knowledge of Hindu scriptures or Hindu dharma, influences a negative and offensive view of the most respected Hindu dharma, without any basis. There is enough evidence and proof of hurting religious feelings by show leader Munawar Faruqui,” he added.
However, the comedian had claimed on Instagram that the show had been canceled due to his poor health.
