Chris Rock Reportedly Made Another Will Smith Joke During A Comedy Show, And Cancel Culture Was Involved

While the 2022 Oscars took place months ago, one particular moment from the telecast continues to make waves. You guessed it: I’m talking about Will Smith slaps Chris Rock on national television. The speech and fallout from the slap continued for some time and is affecting the social network number of the two celebrities. Rock is currently on tour with his stand-up number, which occasionally includes a brief reference to the hubbub of the Oscars. Chris Rock reportedly made another Will Smith joke on a recent comedy show, and cancer culture was involved.

The talk surrounding Will Smith slapping Chris Rock hasn’t slowed down much in the months since the Oscars aired. While some of Smith’s projects were put on hold as a result, Rock toured with his current stand-up set. According HEY, Rock apparently made an offhand reference to last weekend’s slap while performing at Madison Square Garden. An anonymous source reached out to the outlet and explained the new joke that made its way into the comic book’s recent broadcast. They explained,

Chris joked about Will during a bit on cancel culture, joking that “anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face.”

Good, you have it now. It seems Chris Rock knows that old adage: sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me. And since Rock was punched in the face live on national television, he knows full well that real fists hurt. This includes the physical pain that came to his face, as well as the humiliation of being punched by Will Smith in such a public way. As for Smith, he faces the wrath of cancer culture.

This Chris Rock joke is just the latest example of the 57-year-old actor making an offhand reference to being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars. Although The Slap is not actually in his current set, once in a while he’ll make a joke about the infamous kerfuffle. On the plus side: Rock’s ticket sales have been great and he’s also getting more followers on social media.

While Chris Rock has taken care of his tour, the future of Will Smith’s acting career seems a little more uncertain. Smith has largely strayed from the spotlight in the months since slapping Rock on national television. A little of Smith’s upcoming projects have been put on hold, and it’s unclear if/when he will regain A-lister status. For his part, the King Richard the actor is apparently trying to find some clarity, recently went on a meditation retreat.

As far as the public knows, Chris Rock and Will Smith have not been in contact since the slap. While Smith resigned from the film academy and issued an apology on Instagram, there were no reports that the two celebs would be in contact. We’ll just have to wait and see if that changes in the future. In the meantime, check out the 2022 movie release dates to plan your next cinematic experience.
