Burnaby Comedy Shows: ‘Scary’ Dating Stories on Tap October 23

Dating is #1 on the list of scary experiences!

What could be scarier than a visit to the City of the Dead?

Love life, apparently.

While dating apps have undoubtedly facilitated some happy long-term romances, the flip side of online matchmaking is that many have fallen victim to a popular “scary” trend – ghosting. That is, the permanent severance of all further communication by one of the people in a potential relationship.

Shedding light on the daunting misadventures of dating, comics from across Canada return in this year’s Halloween edition of the “catastrophic hook-up” show.

Tinder Tales, a show where comedians and storytellers share their real-life, funny, and ridiculous digital dating experiences, was created in 2015 by creator Adelade LaFontaine. From its beginnings in a small Toronto bar, the show has spread across Canada with several editions, and some shows have been produced in the UK.

The popular show, according to its website, sold out at the world-famous Just for Laughs comedy festival and was named Toronto’s best storytelling event of 2017 by BlogTO.

The Halloween-themed Tinder Tales: Ghosted Edition hits playrooms in seven cities across Canada on October 23, where the comics recount their romantic misadventures.

The show will be hosted by Nancy Ho (@nancyhohaha), co-host of Laughter on the Drive and Fleabag Comedy. Akeem HoyteCharles (@akeemgramz) known for his shows on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon, including A Million Little Things and Batwoman, will close the evening.

The evening will feature a wide range of food and drink options, plus some local LOLs served up by Vancouver’s top up-and-coming comedians like Jacob Balshin, Sean McDonnell and Arash Narchi.
